The story behind the phone in the dugout of Rajasthan Royals came to light, the manager’s health deteriorated, admitted to the hospital.
News India Live, Digital Desk: The controversy that started over the use of mobile phones in the dugout during the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2026 has now emerged as a serious medical emergency. The human and painful reason behind the incident which was initially considered a violation of rules has shocked everyone. The lungs of the team manager of Rajasthan Royals suddenly stopped working (Lungs Collapsed), due to which an atmosphere of chaos was created in the dugout.
What was the ‘phone dispute’?
During the match, TV cameras captured the team manager sitting in the dugout of Rajasthan Royals talking on a mobile phone. The use of any kind of electronic communication device in the dugout is strictly prohibited under the IPL Anti-Corruption Rules (ACU). As soon as this scene came to light, controversy broke out on social media and rumors like match fixing or outside help started flying. BCCI officials also immediately took cognizance of this.
Manager’s both lungs failed
Some time after the incident, an official clarification came from the team, which changed the direction of the entire controversy. It was told that the team manager had severe difficulty in breathing in the middle of the match and both his lungs had collapsed. At the time he was seen on the phone, he was actually trying to contact an ambulance and hospital for medical assistance. It was a ‘life-and-death’ situation, where saving lives was more important than rules.
Treatment is going on in the hospital
The manager was immediately taken to a private hospital in Hyderabad, where his condition is said to be critical but stable. A Rajasthan Royals spokesperson said, “This was an extremely serious medical emergency. The manager’s health deteriorated suddenly and he required immediate medical attention. We stand with him and his family at this difficult time.” Considering the seriousness of the situation, BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit has also calmed the matter on humanitarian grounds.
Debate over IPL rules and humanitarian situation
The incident sparked a new debate over whether communications should be allowed in the dugout in emergency situations. Usually, only walkie-talkies are allowed in the dugout to contact the hospital or medical team, but the use of mobile phones is completely banned. However, experts say that when someone’s life is at stake, the human aspect prevails over rules. At present, the entire cricket fraternity is wishing for the speedy recovery of the manager.
