Thakurdwara (Moradabad): Ward number 18 of Thakurdwara Municipal Council, which comes under Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh, is currently crying tears of misery. Amidst the big claims of development, the ground reality here is that as soon as it rains lightly, the streets turn into ponds and it becomes difficult for people to even walk. Fed up with this problem, the residents of the ward raised slogans today.

Ward residents have been yearning for development for years

The people of Ward No. 18 have been struggling with the problems of unpaved roads, waterlogging and dilapidated electricity lines for a long time. Local residents say that due to lack of proper drainage system, dirty water from houses gets accumulated on the roads. This is not only spreading foul smell, but due to the breeding of mosquitoes, there is also a danger of serious diseases in the area.

A big crisis arose for children and the sick.

The worst effect of this indifference of the administration is on school children and patients. Children are not able to go to school due to mud. Local people alleged that if someone suddenly falls ill, the ambulance would not even be able to come within the locality. In such a situation, the patient has to be carried on a cot to the main road.

Serious allegations of negligence leveled against officials

Ward councilor Mohammad Asif said that he has been informing the executive officer and chairman of the Municipal Council about the problems in writing and orally for the last several years. He told that this matter was also brought to the notice of the Sub-Collector on 26 September 2024, who had given instructions to the ‘Duda’ department to take action, but even after months, not even a single brick has been laid.

Warning: There will be a big movement next Saturday

People have given a blunt warning while handing over complaint letters to the authorities on Samadhan Diwas. The protesters say that if the higher officials do not inspect the ward soon and start the work, then the entire ward residents will start an indefinite protest next Saturday on Samadhan Diwas.
