To provide electricity to the houses deprived of electricity in tribal areas, an action plan has been prepared to provide electricity to 77,292 houses through 3 very special schemes and its implementation has been started. Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company is working on this important action plan, out of which 2 schemes are of the Central Government and 1 scheme is of the Chhattisgarh Government. Under the Prime Minister's Tribal Justice Maha-Abhiyan (PM Janman), special efforts are being made for the 7 most backward tribes of Chhattisgarh, which include Abujhmadia, Baiga, Bharia, Pahari Korwa, Kamar and Birhor. Pradhan Mantri Tribal Unnat Gram Abhiyan has been announced recently, under which Rs 323 crore 63 lakh will be provided to provide electricity to 65,711 unelectrified houses in 919 villages. The action plan has been approved. Under which, 1889.56 kilometers of lines, 25 KVA in 6,863 habitations. Distribution transformers of 1950 capacity will be installed and more than 5,188 kilometers of low pressure lines will be laid.

The biggest problem in providing electricity to tribal dominated villages is the dense forest areas there. Many areas in dense forests are inaccessible. Apart from this, there is also the inherited problem of Naxalism in the dense forest areas of Bastar, to solve which the state government is making continuous efforts with the help of the Centre. Big successes are also being achieved on this front during the tenure of CM Sai. Security forces have been deployed on a large scale in Naxal affected areas by the Central and State Governments. For which security camps have been made. Niyad Nellanar Scheme has been launched by CM Sai to speed up multi-dimensional development works within a radius of 5 kilometers near security camps.

Under this scheme, work has been started by making an action plan to illuminate houses in 96 villages within a radius of 5 kilometers of 24 security camps. In this, a plan is in operation to electrify 105 houses of 8 villages electrified from the grid and 4,399 houses of 61 villages electrified off-grid. Rs 61 crores. Sub-centres and distribution lines are being established under this scheme at a cost of Rs. Under this scheme, Yathagundam and Chintavagu villages of Bijapur district have been electrified and electricity has been supplied to 60 houses.
