Ranchi: The then mining director Indradev Paswan, accused in the case of alleged corruption in the case of allotment of iron and mines located in West Singhbhum Ghatkuri to Usha Martin Company in 2005, surrendered in the CBI court on Thursday. After surrendering, the court arrested Indradev Paswan has been granted bail on the condition of furnishing two personal bonds of Rs 25,000 each and his passport.

In fact, in 2005, Usha Martin Company was allotted an iron ore mine in Ghatkuri, West Singhbhum. There were alleged allegations of corruption in this allocation. IAS officer Arun Kumar Singh was the Secretary of the Mining Department at that time and Indradev Paswan was the Director of Mining. The CBI had filed an FIR against Arun Kumar Singh, Indradev Paswan and three others in 2016 under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and alleged criminal conspiracy. Usha Martin's promoters and mining department officials were named accused in the FIR. It was said in the FIR that in the recommendation sent to the Central Government for the allocation of the mine, the officials of the State Government allegedly showed favoritism in favor of Usha Martin. The company had reportedly promised that it would utilize the iron ore at its steel plant located in Haat Gamhariya. The company had also given an undertaking to the state government. The CBI alleged that the company later retracted its statement saying that there was no specific mention of it in the cabinet note.
