The Times of India has written that
Three decades ago, Ashraful Sheikh fell in love and married in pre-partition Pakur district of Jharkhand. He married Jharna Marandi, a tribal woman, who is now the head of Nartanpur village. This marriage took place according to tribal traditions. Jharna did not change her religion or surname and follows tribal customs, while Ashraful performs all the rituals of Islam.
Pakur, which is near the Bangladesh border, has become the center of discussion in view of the upcoming elections. Amidst the publicity surrounding Bangladeshi infiltration, local residents have termed these allegations as false. They say that they are not Bangladeshis, but have been settled in the land of Santhal Pargana for centuries.
It is noteworthy that BJP has tried to make Bangladeshi infiltration a big issue in Jharkhand Assembly. For many months, all the BJP leaders have been spreading the word that infiltration is taking place from Bangladesh and the Jharkhand government is helping.
