UP government always stands with Annadata farmers and their dependents and is determined to provide all possible support: CM Yogi

Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday distributed assistance under the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme and Chief Minister Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme. During this, he said, only yesterday the budget of Uttar Pradesh government for the year 2026–27 has been passed. The essence of this budget is that with the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many schemes for the welfare of the youth, women, Annadata farmers and the poor of the state have been announced through this comprehensive budget.

He said, today’s ceremony is an example of how when the budget is implemented, the beneficiaries get its benefits directly in their accounts. In one stroke, an amount of ₹ 460 crore is reaching the accounts of Annadata farmers directly. There is no need for any middleman or arbitrator in this. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is a strong support for all Annadata farmers. On this occasion, I heartily congratulate the 2 lakh 51 thousand farmer families present in various districts of the state.

Also said, under the Chief Minister Farmer Accident Insurance Scheme, today an amount of ₹ 175 crore 67 lakh has been transferred to the bank accounts of 3,500 families. On this occasion, I express my condolences to all the affected families and assure them that the government is always with them and will remain committed to all possible support. Today, 2 lakh 51 thousand farmer families across the state, whose crops were damaged due to excessive rainfall or drought, have been provided a compensation amount of ₹ 285 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, ‘First Responder’ works as Aapda Mitra under disaster management in the state. Respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji has started an important campaign in the country as ‘Aapda Mitra’ and we are happy to say that Uttar Pradesh has taken the initiative forward. Various programs related to disaster management have been taken forward by training 29,772 youth volunteers associated with NCC, NSS, NYKS and Bharat Scout and Guide in 25 districts of the state. All these volunteers have also been involved in a seven-day training program and they have been provided with Emergency Responder Kit.

₹876 crore has been allocated to the State Disaster Response Fund in the year 2025–26. Agricultural investment grant amounting to ₹260 crore has been distributed to 5,14,322 farmers affected by crop damage. An assistance of ₹ 216 crore has been provided to 5,398 victims of loss of life and ₹ 24 crore has been provided to 27,448 families affected by house damage. Along with this, the recruitment process of 45,000 Home Guards is currently prevalent in the state. We have decided that in this recruitment, we will give priority to those who are ‘Aapda Mitra’.

He further said, the State Government has decided to provide life and medical insurance for all trained youth volunteers (‘Aapda Mitra’) for a period of three years. For this, MoU has been signed with National Insurance Company through National Disaster Management Authority on 10th February. Under this, life insurance protection cover of up to ₹ 5 lakh has been provided to ‘Aapda Mitra’ volunteers.

The Chief Minister said, to provide accurate weather forecast in the state and to provide timely information to Annadata farmers, Doppler weather radars will be installed in Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Jhansi and Azamgarh. With this, weather related information will be available on time and by giving advance warning to farmers and citizens about possible disasters including lightning, arrangements for their safety can be ensured.
