Meanwhile, under another law, Donald Trump has issued an order to impose first 10 percent tariff and then increasing it to 15 percent. Here, a bilateral trade deal has been agreed between India and America. Under this, it was revealed that America would impose 18 percent tariff on Indian products, but the decision of the US Supreme Court has created a situation of uncertainty. Probably for this reason the talks on trade deal next week have been postponed.

the meeting was scheduled for tomorrow

This decision comes after the recent decision of the US Supreme Court, which has rejected the sweeping tariff policy of President Donald Trump. On Friday, the Supreme Court ruled by a 6-3 majority that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) does not give the President the power to impose tariffs. A bench led by Chief Justice John Roberts said that the reciprocal and drug trafficking-related tariffs imposed under IEEPA are illegal. This was a big blow to Trump, because with these tariffs, America had imposed heavy duties on many countries including India.

Trump retaliated immediately after the court’s decision. On Friday, he imposed a 10 percent global tariff on all countries with a new order, which was to be effective for 150 days from February 24, but on Saturday, he increased it to 15 percent, which is the maximum limit under this law. Trump wrote on Truth Social that this is against those countries which have been ‘exploiting’ America for decades. However, these tariffs are imposed under other provisions such as Section 122, which are separate from the earlier IEEPA tariffs.
