America will soon issue a 250 dollar note with the photo of President Donald Trump! 150 year old rule will change

New Delhi. America may soon issue a 250 dollar ($250) note with the picture of President Donald Trump. The Trump government has already started making these preparations. The government says that if Congress (Parliament) changes the law, the way for printing new notes will be cleared. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant said that currently there is a rule in America, under which the photograph of any living person cannot be printed on the notes. Efforts are underway to change this rule. Let us tell you that, if the proposal is passed, Trump will be the first living person to appear on an American note in more than 150 years.

Besant said that in 2026, America will complete 250 years of its establishment. There is nothing wrong in issuing a commemorative note bearing the photograph of the then President on such an occasion. However, at present this is only a proposal and Congress’s approval will be required to implement it. According to the Washington Post report, the Trump administration has instructed the US currency printing agency Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) to prepare the design of the new note. In the proposed design, Trump’s photo is placed in the middle of the note.

The $250 bill ($250) featuring Trump’s image was proposed last year by South Carolina Republican Congressman Joe Wilson. In February 2025, this bill was sent to the House Financial Services Committee. Now for it to become law, it will have to be approved by both the House of Representatives and the Senate. British artist Ian Alexander, who created the initial design of the $250 ($250) note, has claimed that Donald Trump himself saw the design and suggested some changes to it. According to Alexander, Trump wanted the note to include the colors of the American flag and special people of America’s 250th anniversary.

Issuing new notes is not easy, it may take 6-8 years

It will not be easy to issue a new note with Trump’s photo. It may take 6 to 8 years to prepare and bring it to the market. According to officials of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), the currency printing agency, there are several legal and technical challenges standing in the way of issuing the new high-value notes. Former agency director Patty Soliman had told officials that the entire process of designing, approving and printing a new note usually takes 6 to 8 years.

According to an employee, the officials had clearly said that at present issuance of such notes is not allowed. Apart from this, a formal meeting has not been held yet between all the concerned government agencies on this issue. The report said that Soliman and his team had agreed to a second demand of the administration, under which $100 ($100) notes are being printed bearing Trump’s signature. If this happens, it will be the first time in American history that the signature of a sitting President will be on the currency.
