The villages of Bihar will now take two days of court

Patna: The state of Bihar has taken a big step to make its rural justice system strong and effective. The state government has decided that now there will be a hearing in the village courts every Tuesday and Friday, so that the villagers can get their cases soon. This step is especially important for rural areas where judicial institutions working under the judiciary are often away and there are problems in getting justice for the villagers.

Importance of New Indian Code:

Various amendments and reforms have been made to make the judicial system simple and accessible in India. Under the new Indian Justice Code, implemented in 2023, the village courts of Bihar have been empowered to hear under 40 sections. In these, hearing from major crimes to community disputes can be heard. New sections have now been prepared by changing the old sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), under which the trial will be heard in the village courts.

Improvement in rural justice:

Till now, the sarpanch and panchs of the village Kacharis did not have the right to hear the cases under the Code of India. But now he has been given this new responsibility. The Panchayati Raj Department has directed the District Magistrates and District Panchayati Raj officials to inform the sarpanch and the Panchas under the new code. Despite this, many villages are not yet fully aware of the Sarpanch and Panch Indian Code in the court, making it a major issue.

New rights and responsibilities:

Village courts have been given two types of jurisdiction. First, crime and disputes will be resolved in the village court. This right will have to hear crimes like obscene work, songs, running back -in office, using criminal force and preventing a person in a wrong way. Along with this, these courts will also give a decision on small disputes like land disputes, domestic violence, debate etc.

Increase in reach of judiciary:

This initiative will increase the reach of justice in rural areas of Bihar. Earlier, the villagers had difficulties in going to the court for their complaints, but now their judicial solution will be done quickly through village courts. This will reduce pressure in rural areas and people will be able to reveal their matters without any fear.
