Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devajit Saikia told IANS that the schedule of the opening matches of the Indian Premier League 2026 will be released on March 12. He said that in the first phase only the dates and venues of the first 20 matches will be announced.

The first match may take place between RCB and Punjab Kings
According to reports, the first match of this season can be played between last year’s champion Royal Challengers Bengaluru and runner-up Punjab Kings. This match is likely to be held at the famous M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
