‘The weather is changing, isn’t it…’ This statement of Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari created a stir in the politics of Bengal.
There is a tremendous stir these days in the politics of West Bengal. A recent video of the Chief Minister of the state, Shubhendu Adhikari, is going viral on social media, in which he has given a clear indication of a big change in the state. Addressing the ‘Sanatan Chetna and Ram Rajya Jagran’ program organized in Kolkata, Shubhendu Adhikari said that not even a month has passed since he assumed power, but the atmosphere and weather of the state has started changing rapidly.
During this program, the Chief Minister fiercely targeted the opposition and reminded the people of the state that in earlier times, one had to make rounds of the courts even for religious festivals. His statement has now become a topic of discussion in political circles.
The dignity of the Constitution and the changing climate
During his address, Subhendu Adhikari, referring to his constitutional limitations, said that he is on the post of Chief Minister, hence cannot speak very openly. He told the stage that not even a month has passed since he took oath as the Chief Minister. He took oath on the 9th while holding the Constitution in his hand, but in such a short time the climate of Bengal has started changing. He assured the public that this change is going to be even bigger in the coming days.
Culture, faith and old times
The Chief Minister further said that today we are safe in Bengal and India, hence we are able to follow our religious culture and follow the path of our faith openly. He asked the public in a questioning tone that if this had not happened, what would have been our condition, this is not hidden from anyone. He said that in earlier times, permission was not even given for religious and cultural events like Durga Puja, Kali Puja, Ram Navami processions, Hanuman Jayanti and Geeta recitation in Bengal. For all these things people had to knock the doors of the High Court.
Questions raised on infiltration and country’s security
Shubhendu Adhikari also mentioned the CAA brought by the Prime Minister of the country in the year 2019 for Hindu refugees. He said that even after this, everyone has seen what kind of atrocities took place from Murshidabad to the entire country and the security of the country was challenged. Accusing the previous government of vote bank politics, he said that 600 kilometers of land which should have been given to BSF on the border, was not given and the entire Bangladesh border was left open. For this reason, today the demography of Bengal has completely changed.
Government claims double engine in Bengal
In the last part of his speech, Subhendu Adhikari emphasized on the new system of the state. He said that now a nationalist double engine government has been established in Bengal. Being the Chief Minister, he has some restrictions and limitations due to which he cannot speak much, but he made it clear that the change that has started is not going to stop.
