What is El Nino?
El Nino is a natural climate cycle that occurs when the waters of the equatorial Pacific Ocean become warmer than normal. This increase in ocean temperature affects the weather patterns of the entire world. Due to its effect, severe heat and drought-like conditions are created in many areas, while in some areas the risk of heavy rains and floods increases.
How long does the effect of El Nino last?
El Nino develops every 2 to 7 years and its effects can last for about 9 to 12 months. Its intensity is determined by the increase in ocean temperature. When the temperature rises by 0.5 degrees Celsius above normal, it is considered a weak El Nino. At the same time, if the temperature increases by more than 2 degrees Celsius then it is called Super El Nino condition. In the new report, there is a possibility of increase in temperature.
