The weather will wreak havoc across the country by December 21! Red alert of rain, snowfall, storm and fog
The weather has started showing its fierce form in every corner of the country. From Jammu and Kashmir to Tamil Nadu and from the Himalayan peaks to the Bay of Bengal, the weather is going to wreak havoc everywhere. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow to orange alert regarding heavy rain, snowfall, strong winds and dense fog in many states. Fishermen and travelers have been asked to be especially careful.
Snowfall and rain in North India
The cold is going to increase further in the hilly areas of North India. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Muzaffarabad on December 15 and again from December 18 to 21. In Himachal Pradesh, there is an alert of snowfall in high altitude areas and rain in low lying areas on 15, 20 and 21 December, while in Uttarakhand on 15 and 21 December.
Storm hits South India
The weather will remain bad in the southern states also. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal may experience severe thunderstorms and rain on 16 and 17 December. Strong winds with speed of 30-40 km/hr will prevail in Andaman and Nicobar Islands from 15 to 18 December.
Dense fog increased difficulties
Visibility is going to be zero in the morning and evening! There will be dense fog in many parts of North-East India from 16 to 20 December. There will be dense fog in Himachal Pradesh on 16-18 December, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi-NCR on 16-17 December. Fog will also trouble Uttar Pradesh from 16-17 December and Madhya Pradesh from 16-18 December. The special thing is that there is a warning of very dense fog (visibility less than 50 meters) in UP on 16 December and in Madhya Pradesh on 16-17 December.
Red alert for fishermen in the sea
Sea will be dangerous in Bay of Bengal, Gulf of Mannar and Comorin area from 15 to 20 December. IMD has given strict instructions to fishermen not to go into the sea these days.
Reason for bad weather?
According to meteorologists, a Western Disturbance is active over North Pakistan. The sub-tropical westerly jet stream over north-west India has also intensified, whose speed has reached 120 knots. Upper air cyclonic circulation is present near South Tamil Nadu. A new weak Western Disturbance will again affect the Western Himalayas from the night of 17th December.
