Women’s Commission issued summons in the controversy surrounding the song ‘Sarke Chunar’ on obscenity charges.
According to the report, the National Commission for Women has termed the song as provocative and objectionable and said that its content appears to violate the provisions of the Indian Justice Code and the Information Technology Act. The Commission says that such material gives wrong message to the society and especially affects the dignity of women.
Due to this, the Commission has issued notices to prominent people associated with the film. In this, actor Sanjay Dutt, actress Nora Fatehi and the film’s director have been asked to appear before the commission. Everyone has been instructed to be present with the necessary documents on March 24 at 12:30 pm. The Commission has also clarified that if the concerned persons do not appear at the stipulated time, further action can be taken against them as per law.
In this whole matter, there has been a lot of protest on social media regarding the song. Critics say that the lyrics and presentation of the song cross the limits of obscenity. After the growing controversy, the Hindi version of the film has been removed from many social media platforms.
While giving her clarification on this matter, actress Nora Fatehi has said that she was not aware that the song would be presented in this way in the Hindi version. According to him, the song was shot for the Kannada version and he was not informed about the content of the Hindi version in advance. She has also said that she will not promote this song.
Earlier, this matter has also reached the Parliament, where the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister had made it clear that obscene or objectionable material will not be tolerated in the name of freedom of expression. Under this, action has been taken against the related song and it has also been banned.
