A new kind of war has started between the government and the opposition regarding India’s economy. In central politics where BJP is in power and Congress is playing the role of opposition, a different war is going on between the two. Hardeep Singh Puri hit back

Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Saturday targeted Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and said that the Congress party is making fabricated allegations using false and fake data. Responding to Kharge’s claims in several posts on social media platform

Earlier, Kharge had posted on X on Friday, targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that lie, deceit, fraud, loot and propaganda are the five adjectives which best describe your government. He asked Modi questions on the promise of two crore jobs per year, inflation, demonetization and flawed-GST, electoral bonds, allegations against SEBI chief, crimes against SC/STs and India’s poor ranking on the Global Hunger Index.

In response, Puri said that it seems that the Congress Party and Kharge are unaware of the changes that have improved the lives of Indians. Puri said that the Modi government has lifted more than 24 crore Indians out of multidimensional poverty. This includes construction of more than 11 crore toilets, 12 crore tap water connections, more than 10 crore free cooking gas connections, healthcare services, 51 crore bank accounts, three-fold increase in capital expenditure and policies like GST, Startup India, IBC and PLI scheme. Reforms have helped.

He said we ensured that petrol and diesel prices did not increase even when international benchmark prices increased by 40 to 70 per cent, while oil bonds worth Rs 1.41 lakh crore were sold during the Congress-led UPA-2 government. The Union Minister said that India is showing that it will achieve its development goals by 2047.

War of growth in Karnataka

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s criticism by citing data from the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MOSPI). He said that the state’s GDP growth for 2023-24 is 10.2 percent, which is higher than the national average of 8.2 percent. Modi had written on ‘X’ on Friday that Congress in Karnataka was paying more attention to internal party politics and “looting” rather than development and was even planning to withdraw existing schemes.

Sharing Modi’s post, Shivakumar replied citing MOSPI data that Karnataka’s GDP growth for 2023-24 is 10.2 per cent, which is higher than the national average of 8.2 per cent. Meanwhile, state Information Technology Minister Priyank Kharge also criticized Prime Minister Modi, alleging that his information was wrong and he was relying on what his social media team said instead of the Finance Minister.
