Mumbai:- Monday was the last day to withdraw nominations for the elections to be held on 288 seats of Maharashtra Assembly. According to the Election Commission portal, 3,224 nomination papers were withdrawn on the last day. Thus, 4,426 nominations are left. According to the Election Commission, 7,995 candidates had filed 10,900 nominations. During scrutiny, 6,012 forms were accepted, while 1,649 were rejected due to legal and technical reasons. According to ANI report, 4,426 nomination papers of 3,259 candidates have been filed for Maharashtra elections.
The election campaign for the assembly elections is in full swing in Maharashtra. Both the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) are leaving no stone unturned to woo voters to ensure victory in the elections. Mahayuti is an alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction).
On the other hand, MVA is an alliance of Shiv Sena (UBT) (Uddhav Thackeray faction), NCP (SCP) (Sharad Pawar faction) and Congress Party. Unlike the 2019 assembly elections, major changes are being seen in this election in Maharashtra. In this, two factions have emerged within the major regional parties Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party. The Uddhav Thackeray faction is fighting against its long-term ally BJP. In the 2019 assembly elections, BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena won 56 seats and Congress won 44 seats. In 2014, BJP won 122 seats, Shiv Sena won 63 seats and Congress won 42 seats.
Election Commission received 1,648 complaints
The Model Code of Conduct was implemented in the state on October 15 regarding the Maharashtra Assembly elections 2024. Meanwhile, the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer said that between October 15 and 29, 1,648 complaints of violation of code of conduct were received on the C-Vigil application, of which 1,646 were resolved by the Election Commission.

Counting of votes on 23 November
Let us tell you that elections for 288 assembly seats will be held on November 20. Counting of votes will take place on November 23. The last date for filing nominations was October 29 while the last date for scrutiny of applications was October 30. The last date for withdrawal of applications was 4 November. The election notification was issued on 22 October.
