There are 55 landslide zones on the route of Char Dham Yatra, the report of Mitigation and Management Center revealed.

New Delhi: Uttarakhand Disaster Management Authority has identified 55 old landslide zones on the Char Dham Yatra route. The Authority's Landslide Mitigation and Management Center has prepared a report in this regard, from which this information came to light. A scientific analysis is being done to prepare the database. In which the routes extending from Rishikesh to Char Char Dham pilgrimage sites have been included.

Which are considered sensitive zones for possible landslides during Char Dham Yatra. It includes sensitive areas like Pagalnala, Lambagad, Pipalkoti, Patalganga, Birahi, Joshimath area, Devprayag, Kaudiyala, Tota Valley of Pauri district.

Identification of hotspot on Char Dham Yatra route

To monitor high-risk landslide zones, the authority is using “Nabhannetra”. This is a special drone used to collect real-time information on landslides. The initiative aims to effectively manage traffic risks during the monsoon season.

Secretary of Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority, Vinod Kumar Suman has said that hotspots are being identified on the Char Dham Yatra route. During this period all areas are being studied. A complete report is being prepared for all the areas to know the nature of the landslide. It is noteworthy that the purpose of the investigation started in the month of October is to prepare a detailed report covering landslides on the routes. The information revealed in this report will help in mitigating the potential risks that may arise in future and enable timely action to ensure safe travel for pilgrims and tourists.
