Adequate reserves of petrol-diesel, LPG and natural gas are available… Petroleum Ministry’s statement amid West Asia tension

New Delhi. Due to the ongoing tension in West Asia, the shortage of diesel, petrol and LPG has increased across the world. Its effect is being seen in India also but the government has intensified its preparations regarding this. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has clarified that there are sufficient reserves of petrol, diesel, LPG and natural gas in the country. Amid reports of customer panic at many places, the government has taken rapid measures at multiple levels to stabilize the country’s energy market.

Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, on Monday gave information about the availability of fuel in the country. He said, there is sufficient amount of fuel in the country. He assured to ensure supply despite the current situation in West Asia. The government has taken many important steps in this regard.

Sujata Sharma said that there is sufficient quantity of diesel-petrol and LPG in the country. Refineries are functioning normally and crude oil reserves are adequate. At many places people were seen doing panic buying but the citizens of the country were assured that there is no shortage anywhere.

Excise duty on petrol and diesel has been reduced by Rs 10. The government has also imposed export duty to maintain the availability of diesel. He requested not to believe in rumors and use fuel as per requirement. Hundred percent supply of natural gas is being ensured for domestic use.
