While talking to India Today, Javed Akhtar said that the makers of ‘Border 2’ had talked to me for the song. But I refused myself. Javed Akhtar said, “They had asked me to write a song for the film, but I refused. Really, I think this is a kind of creative bankruptcy. You have an old song, which was a big hit earlier, and now you want to reinvent it by adding a little something to it?” Javed Akhtar further said, “Make a different song for the film or accept that you cannot work as before.”
