There is no ‘chu’ in BJP on not getting Rajya Sabha, why there is rebellion in Congress?
There are many big leaders in the Indian National Congress. These leaders have been holding some lucrative positions for years or are currently holding some positions or the other. When Congress sends Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha tickets to new leaders in place of big leaders, these same leaders rebel against their party. Big leaders and former Union ministers like Jyotiraditya Scindia, Jitin Prasad, Milind Deora have been included in this list. Another name has been added to this list. That name is Anand Sharma. Sharma comes from Himachal Pradesh. He wanted to reach Parliament from a Rajya Sabha seat in the state. But instead of sending him, Congress made youth leader Kangra district Congress President Anurag Sharma the Rajya Sabha party candidate.
Now Anurag Sharma is certain to go to Rajya Sabha. Former Union Minister Anand Sharma has become angry due to this. He is pained by this decision of the party high command. On this decision of the party, Anand Sharma said that self-respect is very costly. Speaking the truth has now become a punishable political offence. Anand Sharma is not the first Congress leader who has given a statement against his party after not getting the post. Earlier, leaders like Jyotiraditya, Jitin, Milind Deora etc. had brought disgrace to Congress while leaving the party. On the other hand, there is no leader in BJP after 2014 who has opposed the decision of the party high command. A direct example of this in BJP are leaders like Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Manohar Lal, Vasundhara Raje Scindia etc.

In such a situation, if the Rajya Sabha is not won, there is not even a ‘chu’ in the BJP, while in the Congress, voices of rebellion for the Rajya Sabha start rising. Let us know why this happens…
What is the case of Anand Sharma?
In fact, former Union Minister Anand Sharma, former party state unit president Pratibha Singh and other senior Congress leaders were considered to be strong contenders to become Rajya Sabha members from the state. The Congress high command has decided to send Kangra Congress President Anurag Sharma from Himachal Pradesh to the Rajya Sabha. Congress has given two messages with this decision. Firstly, the party is also promoting the new generation of leaders, due to which the grassroots level workers may get a chance in the times to come. Secondly, Congress is looking at the future by putting forward new leaders in the party.
Former Union Minister Anand Sharma said in Shimla on Thursday that speaking the truth is now a political crime. One has to pay the price of self-respect in politics. Anand Sharma said that he has also seen the times of Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Dr. Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi. He said that he will continue to speak the truth. This statement of Anand is being linked to the G23 controversy related to him, in which he had talked about change in the central leadership. In particular, he had earlier raised objections regarding the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. Perhaps his statement about paying the price for speaking the truth is pointing towards this.
Anand Sharma against Rahul Gandhi
In fact, for the last five-six years, Anand Sharma was continuously raising question marks against Rahul Gandhi and his leadership from one platform or the other. He has been a close associate not only of Rahul but also of former Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who opened a front against Sonia Gandhi. Sharma has also been a member of the former Congress rebel group G-23. Earlier, he had already adopted a rebellious tone against Congress for not getting Rajya Sabha in 2022. Anand Sharma has had dinner with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2025, due to which it is said that they are close.

Big leaders like Anand Sharma talk about revolting for a Rajya Sabha seat in Congress. One reason for this is that the Congress high command does not have a central government. Also, Congress has been shrinking in the states since 2014, the trend of which continues even today. In such a situation, the Congress high command does not have the Rajya Sabha to give its senior leaders who are not active on the ground. To come to power, the party is giving preference to those leaders who are working for the party on the ground. There is opposition to the decisions of the party high command in Congress and in BJP no leader says anything, one reason for this is the difference in the work culture of the two parties.
Modi-Shah’s dominance in BJP
BJP is dominated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Both the leaders have a tremendous hold on their party. The decision taken by Modi-Shah, leave alone any leader in BJP in Rajya Sabha, not even the present Chief Minister can postpone that decision. This is the reason why the then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chauhan and the then Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal were removed from their posts in one stroke and brought to the Centre. Apart from this, in Rajasthan, veteran BJP leader Vasundhara Raje was sidelined and Bhajanlal Sharma was made the Chief Minister.
In such a situation, it is clear that Congress has governments of Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge in fewer states. The party does not have much to offer its leaders. On the other hand, BJP has dozens of posts to give from the Center to the states.
