There is no need to celebrate so much… BJP leader Kapil Mishra said on the acquittal of Arvind Kejriwal
digital desk- Delhi politics has once again become heated. Delhi government minister Kapil Mishra has launched a scathing attack on Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s emotional reaction after his acquittal by the Rouse Avenue court in the excise policy case. Terming Kejriwal’s emotional outburst as a “gimmick”, Mishra said that the people of Delhi have rejected him and now politics will not be run on the basis of emotions. On Friday, Rouse Avenue Court acquitted Kejriwal and 23 other accused, including former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, in the alleged scam related to excise policy. After the court’s decision, Kejriwal became emotional in front of the media. Kapil Mishra has raised questions regarding this.
“If everything was right then why was the policy withdrawn?”
Kapil Mishra said that if the liquor policy was completely correct and there was no corruption in it, then why was it withdrawn as soon as allegations were made? He alleged that commission was increased from 6 per cent to 12 per cent, schemes like one bottle free with one bottle were implemented and this led to revenue loss to the government. Mishra said, “If Arvind Kejriwal is honest then he should answer these questions. The public also wants to know what was there in the policy over which there was so much controversy?” He claimed that Kejriwal does not have clear answers to these questions. The minister also said that the legal process in this matter is not completely over yet. The Central Investigation Agency has challenged the decision of the Rouse Avenue Court in the High Court. Mishra reminded that earlier strict comments had been made in the High Court and the Supreme Court regarding this case. He said, “There is no need to celebrate so much. The law will take its course and the truth will come out.”
Relief from court, but political debate continues
Kejriwal and Sisodia had to spend months in jail in the excise policy case, commonly known as the “liquor policy scam”. After the acquittal by the court, the Aam Aadmi Party has described it as “the victory of truth”. Party leaders say that the investigating agencies had taken action under political pressure. However, the opposition’s stance is aggressive. It is clear from Kapil Mishra’s statement that this matter will remain the center of political debate even outside the court.
