There is no one like Aaqib Nabi… 104 wickets in 2 Ranji seasons, record of 5 wicket haul
Aaqib Nabi has wreaked havoc in domestic cricket. This fast bowler has single-handedly made Jammu and Kashmir the Ranji Trophy champion. 29 year old Aaqib took maximum 60 wickets in this Ranji season. He stood third in the list of fast bowlers taking most wickets in a single Ranji Trophy. In this matter, Jaydev Unadkat and Doda Ganesh are ahead of him. Jaydev Unadkat took 67 wickets in the 2019-20 Ranji season, while Doda Ganesh took 62 wickets in 1998-99.
If it had been Aaqib’s turn to bowl in the second innings in the final played in Hubli, perhaps he could have overtaken Doda Ganesh. Aaqib had a tremendous performance not only in this Ranji season but also in the last season. He has played a total of 18 matches in the last 2 Ranji seasons, taking 104 wickets. As a fast bowler, only Unadkat is ahead of him in terms of taking the most wickets in two consecutive Ranji seasons, who took 106 wickets in 18 matches in the 2018-19 and 2019-29 seasons.

Made record of 5 wicket haul
Aaqib took 8 five-wicket hauls in the 2025–26 first-class season. This is the joint-highest 5 wicket haul for a fast bowler in a first class season in India. Aaqib equaled the record of Maurice Tate (1926–27) and Ron Oxenham (1935–36), who had taken five-wicket hauls eight times each in India.
Of these 8 five-wicket hauls, Aaqib took 7 in Ranji Trophy, which is the joint-highest as a fast bowler. Before this, Lakshmipathy Balaji (2002-03), Aniket Choudhary (2018-19) and Unadkat (2019-20) have also taken 5 wicket hauls 7 times each in a Ranji season.
