There will be big changes in Gram Panchayats of UP, good news for the people
Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh government is going to take a new and comprehensive initiative towards freeing the state from poverty. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath thinks that the benefits of development should reach the last person of the society and no family should be deprived of basic needs. With this objective in mind, the government is preparing to launch ‘Zero Poverty Campaign’, the special thing of which is that not only the government departments but also the universities and colleges of the state will play an active role in it.
Educational institutions will become partners of change
Under this campaign, universities and colleges of the state will be directly connected to the villages. According to the plan, every educational institution will adopt 10 to 15 gram panchayats. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be made between the district administration and the concerned institution, so that the responsibilities and goals of the work remain clear. It will start as a pilot project from Lucknow and after its positive results, it will be implemented in the entire state.
Students will play an important role
Students will also be brought forward in this campaign of change in villages. Students pursuing courses like NSS, NCC and Social Work (MSW) will go to selected Gram Panchayats as volunteers. They will communicate with poor and needy families and understand their real problems and needs. Based on this, measures related to livelihood, employment, skill development and social empowerment will be suggested. On one hand, this will give new thinking and energy to the villages, while on the other hand, the students will also get experience of working at the grassroots level.
Self-reliance through micro planning
The goal of ‘Zero Poverty Campaign’ is not just immediate help, but permanent solutions. Therefore, micro planning of opportunities related to skill training, self-employment, entrepreneurship and employment will be done. Needy youth will be linked to skilling programmes, apprenticeship and placements, so that they can become self-reliant and develop a source of regular income.
Nodal teachers will monitor
To make the campaign systematic and effective, a nodal teacher will be appointed in every university and college. These teachers will coordinate the entire program, guide the students and monitor the activities going on in the villages. On the basis of survey and field work conducted by the students, it will be decided which type of assistance is required by which family.
