How to grow ginger in kitchen garden
Choose good quality ginger
Always start farming with healthy and fresh ginger. Choose ginger in which small buds are visible. These shoots later develop into new plants. Avoid using rotten or very dry ginger.
Choose the right soil and pot
Soil rich in organic matter, friable and with good drainage is considered most suitable for ginger. By adding rotted cow dung or compost to the soil, the plant gets adequate nutrition. Choose a pot or grow bag at least 10–12 inches deep, so the roots can spread easily.
Use the correct method of application
Cut the ginger into pieces in such a way that each piece has at least one sprout. Press them into the soil about 2 to 3 inches deep and add a layer of light soil on top. Keep adequate distance between plants, so that the tubers have room to grow.
Maintain balance of sunlight and irrigation
Ginger prefers mild or shady sunlight rather than bright sunlight. The soil should remain moist, but there should not be waterlogging. Irrigate as needed and avoid overwatering, as this can cause tubers to rot.
fertilize from time to time
Adding organic fertilizer, vermicompost or compost every 30 to 40 days improves plant growth. Using organic fertilizers instead of chemical fertilizers can make ginger more healthy and tasty.
When will the crop be ready?
Ginger crop is usually ready in 8 to 10 months. If you want soft and fresh ginger, it can be harvested even after about 5 to 6 months. When the leaves of the plants turn yellow and start drying, understand that the crop is ready.

- Protect the plant from waterlogging.
