There will be rain in Delhi in the coming time, what does the Meteorological Department say?

Delhi and surrounding areas received light rain and drizzle on Sunday morning, providing some relief to people from the recent scorching heat. There was light rain in many areas including Noida and the weather became pleasant.

 

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a total of 8 mm of rainfall was recorded in Delhi till 8:30 am. Safdarjung and Lodhi Road received 0.8 mm rainfall each, Palam 0.4 mm, Ayanagar 2.6 mm and Pitampura 3.5 mm rainfall, which was the highest in the city.

IMD said that Delhi will remain partly cloudy on Monday. Strong surface winds will blow at a speed of 20-30 kilometers per hour during the day. Tuesday will also be cloudy and winds will blow at 15-25 kilometers per hour.

Delhi is expected to remain mostly cloudy throughout the week. There may be very light rain or drizzle on Wednesday, along with thunderstorms and strong winds reaching up to 40 kilometers per hour.

Rain/snow in Northeast

Parts of the western Himalayas like Gulmarg in Kashmir received fresh snowfall on Sunday, while the plains received rain. Light rain or snowfall may continue in the Western Himalayas from March 15 to 21.

 

In the Northeast, West Bengal and Sikkim may receive light to moderate rain, thundershowers and strong winds of 30-50 km per hour on March 15-17 and 20-21. Widespread rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya in the next 5-6 days. Similar conditions will prevail in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on March 15-17.

Rain in other states of North India

There may be rain and thundershowers in eastern Uttar Pradesh on March 16. There is a possibility of hailstorm with strong winds in Uttarakhand on March 15 and 16.

 

Light rain occurred in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, due to which the temperature dropped slightly in many districts. Light rain also occurred in some areas of Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana and the maximum temperature dropped.

According to Lucknow Weather Centre, the reason for this weather change is Western Disturbance, which will remain active till March 16. The weather will be dry on March 17 and 18 and the temperature may rise slightly. Its impact will be maximum on March 19 and 20, in which there may be thunderstorms, strong winds and local rain in Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions.
