These 5 new expressways will be built in Bihar, great news for these districts

Patna. With the formation of the new government in Bihar, work on infrastructure related to public interest has started at a rapid pace. The Road Construction Department (RCD) has prepared a comprehensive roadmap, especially regarding road and expressway construction. The aim of the department is to start work on the five big expressway projects approved in the state as soon as possible so that the travel of the common people becomes easier and industrial development gets a boost.

Which expressways will be built in Bihar?

There are five major expressways proposed/sanctioned in the state, work on some of which has already started, while preparations for starting some others are in the final stages:

1. Varanasi–Kolkata Expressway

The project is progressing at the fastest pace and construction is in progress in many parts. After its completion, travel time between major cities of East India will reduce significantly.

2. Patna–Purnia Expressway

This expressway is very important to connect the north-eastern part of Bihar with the capital Patna. After getting approval from the Ministry, the outline of its construction is being decided.

3. Raxaul–Haldia Expressway

It will provide direct connectivity from Nepali border to Haldia, the major port of West Bengal. This route can prove to be a game changer for business activities.

4. Gorakhpur–Siliguri Expressway

This route connecting Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh to Siliguri in North Bengal will pass through many northern districts of Bihar. This also has the approval of the ministry.

5. Buxar–Bhagalpur Expressway

The fifth major route, which will ease travel and logistics from west to east of the state. The total proposed length of all these five expressways is about 1626 kilometers, which is going to completely reshape the road network of Bihar.

Other major road projects also on priority

The road construction department is not limited to expressways only. Preparations are also being made to start work on those projects which were approved by the Central Government before the elections. Prominent among them are: Sahebganj-Areraj-Bettiah Corridor, Mokama-Munger Corridor, these roads will not only improve local mobility but will also give a new dimension to regional development.
