News Desk. Work on an ambitious plan to improve the connectivity of rural areas is about to begin in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh. The Public Works Department (PWD) has prepared a detailed proposal for the construction and widening of six main roads of the district under the ‘Accelerated Economic Development Plan’. A budget proposal of Rs 49.30 crore has been sent to the state government for this project.
Objective of the project
The scheme mainly focuses on the renovation and widening of those roads which are currently unable to bear the pressure of increasing traffic due to limited width. Under the proposed plan, the width of the roads will be increased from 3.30 meters and 3.75 meters to 5.50 meters, which will make the movement of large vehicles easier and the chances of accidents will also reduce.
Involved roads and their routes
Binauli – Pura Mahadev Marg: It will be increased from 3.75 meters to 5.50 meters wide.
Mukari village route: From Baghpat-Meerut National Highway to Mukari village via Lavkush Ashram.
Bhagwanpur Nangal Marg: From Doghat to Shiv Gauraknath Temple.
Among the other three routes, Nirpuda –Chittamkhedi, Kandera Bypass – Ashrafabad Thal and Chhaprauli Library – Kakaur-Bachhod Nangla.
Benefits on villagers and business
The widening and construction of these roads will ensure direct connectivity of rural areas with the Baghpat-Meerut National Highway. This will save time in long distance travel and people will not have to struggle extra on link roads. Additionally, business activities will also benefit as transportation of goods and services will now be easier.
What will be the further process?
The Public Works Department has prepared the proposal and sent it to the state government. After getting the approval, the tender process will be started and the department plans to start the construction work within this financial year. This project will improve the infrastructure of Baghpat district and will bring new momentum in the development journey of rural areas.
