These eight players were nominated for Player of the Tournament in T20 World Cup 2026.

New Delhi, 07 March 2026: The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 has now reached its final stages. India and New Zealand will face each other in the final match of this tournament. These matches will be played on Sunday, March 8 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, before the final match, 8 players who performed best throughout the tournament have been shortlisted for the Player of the Tournament award.

Team India’s star wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson is also included in this list, who has played explosive innings in his last two matches. Pakistan’s opener Sahibzada Farhan is also named in the shortlist.

8 players shortlisted for Player of the Tournament award

Will Jacques – England

England all-rounder Will Jacks played a key role in his team’s victory in six out of eight matches in the T20 World Cup, and won the Player of the Match award four times. He scored 226 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 176.56. Additionally, as an off-spin bowler, Jakes has taken 9 wickets for the English team.

Lungi Ngidi – South Africa

Lungi Ngidi was South Africa’s most successful bowler in the 2026 T20 World Cup. He took 12 wickets in seven matches. Ngdia started the tournament by taking four wickets against Canada, then took three wickets against Afghanistan. He also took three wickets in the Super Eights against West Indies. He did not get any wicket against India, but Ngidi gave only 15 runs in his four overs.

Aiden Markram – South Africa

South African captain Aiden Markram, with his impressive batting, took the Proteas to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2026, in which he scored 286 runs including three half-centuries in eight matches. However, the South African team under the leadership of Markram was eliminated from the tournament after losing against New Zealand by 9 wickets in the semi-finals.

Rachin Ravindra – New Zealand

In this T20 World Cup, New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra has made important contributions to the Kiwi team with both bat and ball. After the first Super 8 match against Pakistan was washed out due to rain, Rachine gave lead to New Zealand in the match against Sri Lanka. He scored 32 runs and took 4/27 and restricted Sri Lanka to 107/8. He took 3/19 in the next match against England, but his team lost.

Shedley Van Schalkwyk – America

Despite the USA being eliminated from the group stage of the 2026 T20 World Cup, Shadley van Schalkwyk performed exceptionally well at the tournament. The American fast bowler took a total of 13 wickets in just four matches. Van Schalkwyk started the T20 World Cup 2026 by taking 4 wickets against India on 7 February and also took 4 wickets in the next match against Pakistan.

Tim Seifert – New Zealand

New Zealand’s explosive opening batsman Tim Seifert played a key role in the Kiwi team reaching the final of the 2026 T20 World Cup. He scored a total of 274 runs in 8 matches. Seifert started the tournament with half-centuries against Afghanistan and UAE, but his 58 runs in the semi-final against South Africa were most important. Opener Seifert had a 117-run partnership with Finn Allen as New Zealand chased the target of 170 runs in 13 overs.

Sanju Samson – India

Team India’s star wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson is in great form in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Samson performed consistently in India’s last two matches, due to which he received the Player of the Match award in both the matches. Samson scored an unbeaten 97 runs in just 50 balls in the Super 8 match against West Indies and then led India to victory by playing a quick inning of 89 runs in 42 balls in the semi-final against England.

Sahibzada Farhan – Pakistan

Pakistan’s performance in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 was disappointing, but Farhan, the only player to shine in the entire tournament, scored 383 runs in six innings at an average of 76.60, which made the record of scoring the most runs in a single T20 World Cup. Farhan became the first player to score two centuries in the same T20 World Cup. He scored centuries against Sri Lanka and Namibia.
