These legends have been playing IPL since Vaibhav was not even born, see the complete list

The Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) season is witnessing a unique confluence of youthful enthusiasm and experienced spirit. While Bihar’s 15-year-old young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi is shining his glory this season, there are some players on the field whose IPL career is older than Vaibhav’s age. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was born on 11 March 2011, that is, by the time Vaibhav entered this world, IPL had completed its three successful seasons. In such a situation, there are many players who had made their IPL debut even before the birth of Vaibhav Suryavanshi and are now active in the IPL 2026 season as well.

It is a rare coincidence in the history of cricket that a player was born exactly when the IPL was taking its roots. Today, he is taking on the same legends who made his IPL debut before Vaibhav Suryavanshi was born. Interestingly, when MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli were leading India to victory in the World Cup in 2011, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was just 22 days old.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s cricket journey and achievements

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a resident of Bihar, is today counted among the rising stars of Indian cricket. His father recognized his passion for cricket when he was just 4 years old. After this, at the age of 9, he joined a cricket academy in Samastipur, from where his game improved. On the basis of his excellent performance in Vinoo Mankad Trophy, Vaibhav got a place in Bihar’s Ranji team. He made his first-class debut against Mumbai in January 2024. In the same year, while playing for the India Under-19 team in the Youth Test series against Australia, he scored a century in just 58 balls in Chennai, due to which he came into limelight.

After this he got a chance in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup. Even though his performance there was not great, his talent was clearly visible. Seeing his talent, IPL teams like Rajasthan and Delhi wanted to take him in their team. Eventually Rajasthan bought him for Rs 1.1 crore and he became the youngest player to get an IPL contract.

Vaibhav performed brilliantly in IPL 2025. He made his debut at the age of just 14 and also made the record of being the youngest to score a century. He played a stormy inning of 101 runs in 38 balls against Gujarat Titans. His 35-ball century was the second fastest in IPL history and the fastest by an Indian. In this innings he hit 11 sixes, which is equal to the record for an Indian. In the entire season, he scored 252 runs in 7 matches and his strike rate was 206.56.

Apart from IPL, Vaibhav’s bat continued to speak. He became the youngest person to score a century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and scored a century in 36 balls against Arunachal Pradesh. During this time, he also made the record of scoring the fastest 150 runs in List A cricket by scoring 190 runs in 84 balls. He also became the youngest person to score a century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

For his brilliant achievement, he was also honored with the Prime Minister’s National Child Award by President Draupadi Murmu in 2025. Vaibhav’s glory continued in Under-19 cricket also. In the Asia Cup 2025, he scored 261 runs in 5 matches, which included an inning of 171 runs against UAE. At the same time, in the Under-19 World Cup 2026, he scored 439 runs in 7 matches.
