Many records have been made in the fastest format of cricket, T20 International, but on August 20, 2024, what Samoan batsman Darius Vissere did, no player has been able to do till date. In the match played against Vanuatu, he scored 39 runs in a single over, which became the highest scoring over in T20I history. Earlier this record was 36 runs, which was shared by Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard, Rohit Sharma-Rinku Singh pair and Nepal’s Deependra Singh Ari.
Darius Visser: This feat happened at Apia (Ground No. 2), when Samoa team was chasing the target. Darius Visser scored runs in the over of Vanuatu bowler Nalin Nipikko. That was the score card of the over – 6, 6, 6, 1 run on a no ball, then 6 runs on a no ball and 6 runs. In this way, a total of 39 runs were scored in the over, which included two no balls, due to which the batsman got the benefit of free hit and he made full use of it and made the record in his name.
Yuvraj Singh: India’s star batsman Yuvraj Singh hit 6 consecutive sixes in Stuart Broad’s over against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup. This history was made in Durban on 19 September 2007.
Kieron Pollard: West Indies power hitter Kieron Pollard hit 6 consecutive sixes against Sri Lanka’s Akila Dhananjay in Antigua and scored 36 runs. The special thing is that Dhananjay had taken a hat-trick in that first over.
Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh: In the T20 match played against Afghanistan in Bengaluru on 17 January 2024, Rohit Sharma scored 4, no balls, 6, 6, 1 runs in the beginning of the over and then Rinku Singh made the over historic by hitting three consecutive sixes on the last three balls.
Dipendra Singh Eri: Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Ari achieved this feat by hitting 6 consecutive sixes against Qatar’s Kamran Khan in a match played in Al Emirates on 13 April 2024.
