“They are getting hurt more than us”: Yuvraj Singh gives strong message to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s critics
Yuvraj Singh has backed under-fire Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma after their below-par performances in the BGT 2024-25 Down Under.
“Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are our greats. We are saying bad things about them, and people shouldn’t forget what they have achieved for the country in the past. They are among the greatest cricketers of their time. We lost, and they didn’t play well. They are getting hurt more than us,” Yuvraj Singh told PTI.
Kohli amassed 190 runs in nine innings, including an unbeaten 100 runs off 143 balls in the second innings of the series opener at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The 36-year-old was dismissed eight times outside the off stump. Rohit accumulated 31 runs in five innings.
Yuvraj hailed Rohit for dropping himself from the fifth Test in Sydney. “I haven’t seen a captain dropping himself because of his form in the past. This is Rohit Sharma’s greatness that he kept the team ahead of himself.
“He is a great captain, and even if we lose, you can’t take away that tag from him. We reached the ODI World Cup final and also won the T20 World Cup under his captaincy. We have achieved a lot under his leadership,” he added.
He also spoke about the team’s future in the next cycle of the World Test Championship.
“Gautam Gambhir, Ajit Agarkar, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah are capable of making the right decisions.”
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be a part of the team in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
