“They eat three meals together, practice together, play golf together”: Justin Langer hails the most hard-working cricketers in the world
The series between India and Australia is tied at 1-1, with the fourth Test underway at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Apart from the fifties from the openers Sam Konstas and Usman Khawaja, the two senior pros Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne also showed their class. Smith and Marbus added 83 runs for the third wicket before Washington Sundar dismissed the latter.
Former player Justin Langer who has worked with the two in the past, lauded the cricketers. Langer was Australia’s coach when he saw exceptional performances from Steve and Labuschagne.
Justin revealed that the two top-order batters are the most hard-working pair in cricket. “They are the most hard-working pair in cricket ever for me. I haven’t seen players practicing more than them. They eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner together. They practice together, and they play golf together. They party together. You will always see them together, and that’s why they are successful,” he said on Star Sports.
The two were going through a rough patch before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against India. Marnus and Smith took time, but they are back to their run-scoring spree and making India pay for their ordinary bowling. Labuschagne has been hit several times, but the right-handed batter hasn’t given up. On the other hand, Smith is taking time before playing his strokes.
