Desk: A sensational incident of theft has come to light amidst heavy security in the famous Thawe temple located in Gopalganj, Bihar. On Wednesday night, unknown thieves entered the temple and stole gold and silver crown, necklace, umbrella and other precious jewelery from the idol of Maa Durga. The thieves also committed theft by breaking into the locker built in the temple premises. The thieves have also taken the donation box with them.

There is huge anger among the local people after this theft incident that took place in the police station and temple premises. A businessman from Jharkhand had donated a gold crown weighing 251 grams and worth about Rs 51 lakh to Maa Thavewali. On Thursday morning, when the priests of the temple opened the door of the temple for worship, all the items were found scattered and everyone was surprised to see the jewelery missing.

Superintendent of Police Awadhesh Dixit said that the theft took place late at night between 11:30 and 12:00. Two unidentified thieves, who had masks on their faces, entered the temple from the back side of the temple using a ladder. They had a cutter with which they cut the lock of the temple and stole the gold crown, umbrella and other jewelery from the idol of Maa Durga. After the theft the thieves fled through the same route.

As soon as information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot and took possession of the temple premises and started investigation. FSL team and dog squad have been called, and evidence is being collected through scientific methods. The footage of CCTV cameras installed in and around the temple premises is also being examined. The police is investigating the case from every angle and is claiming early identification and arrest of the accused.

SP Awadhesh Dixit said that the security arrangements of the temple are being seriously investigated. The role of private security guards deployed at the temple will also be reviewed, and if negligence is found, strict action will be taken against them.
