Stop before giving a smartphone to your child! Serious disadvantages revealed in study
In the digital age, smartphones have become common in every home, but giving this device to children is becoming a challenge for parents. A recent study has clarified that giving smartphones to young children prematurely can cause many mental, physical and social problems. Experts say that it is not just a means of entertainment but also has a deep impact on their development.
The study found that excessive screen time in children weakens their ability to concentrate. Their attention gets easily distracted in studies or sports and the learning process slows down. Psychologists say this effect was especially seen in 8–12-year-old children, who are exposed to excessive digital devices at an early age.
Along with this, lack of sleep is also a big danger. Playing games or watching videos on smartphones for long hours affects the natural sleep cycle. Lack of sleep can cause mental fatigue, mood swings and health problems in children. Research also revealed that continuous lack of sleep can have a negative impact on their physical growth.
According to the study, premature use of smartphones also affects the social skills of children. Children often hesitate to communicate with people in the real world because of digital interactions. Their participation in sports and group activities reduces, due to which teamwork and social understanding do not develop.
Apart from this, cyber security and mental health are also becoming a matter of concern. Young children are often unable to properly evaluate online content and are exposed to fake links, obscene or violent material. This can cause mental problems like fear, anxiety and depression. Experts recommend that parents should monitor children’s online activities and allow only safe apps and games.
Experts also say that before giving smartphones to children, it is necessary to tell them the time limit and rules of use. Initially, allow limited use of digital devices and gradually increase screen time. Along with this, offline games, studies and spending time with family are also important for the development of children.
