BMW Group’s sub-brand Mini (MINI) has officially launched its new Mini Cooper S Convertible in the Indian market. Interestingly, this is the third car from the Mini brand to enter India in the last three months. Earlier, Mini John Cooper Works (JCW) All4 was launched in October and Mini Countryman SE All4 in November. The new Mini Cooper S Convertible has now fueled interest in the premium convertible car segment.

The company has priced this car at Rs 58.50 lakh ex-showroom, making it the cheapest convertible car in India at the moment. The car will be sold in India as a complete complete built unit (CBU). According to Mini, this car is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.9 seconds, so the car is impressive in terms of performance as well.
In terms of design, the Mini Cooper S Convertible retains Mini’s iconic styling. The front gets round LED headlights with DRLs, and a unique octagonal grille. There is a body-colored trim in the center of the grille, with an air dam below. The side profile features 18-inch alloy wheels as standard, with plastic cladding on all four sides, giving the car a sporty look. At the rear, Mini’s signature Union Jack design LED taillights are provided. The tailgate opens downwards and can support around 80 kg, which is considered a unique feature for a convertible car. Inside the cabin, the design gives a premium and modern feel.
In terms of features, this car is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. It features a head-up display, wireless charger, ambient light projection on the dashboard, and a rear-view camera for convenience. A Harman Kardon sound system is available for music lovers, while connected car technology is offered with an OLED screen for advanced technology. All these features combine to make the driving experience more fun, especially for an open-top convertible.

Looking at the engine and performance, the Mini Cooper S Convertible is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine. This engine produces 204 HP of power and 300 Nm of torque. The car comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and runs on a front-wheel drive setup. According to the company’s claim, the top speed of the car is 237 kmph. Although official mileage figures have not been released, it is usually between 10 and 12 kmpl in premium convertible cars.
