Third gender included in Bihar Police SI recruitment
The process of including third gender candidates in Bihar Police SI recruitment has been started. In the recruitment of 2026, 17 third gender candidates have qualified for the main examination and now they will have to give physical test at par with female candidates. Preparations are going on in this direction in other states like Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh also.
Bihar Police SI Recruitment: Bihar Police has included third gender candidates for the first time in the SI recruitment of 2026. Out of 35 thousand candidates, 17 third gender candidates have qualified for the main examination. These candidates will now have to give a physical test, in which the criteria like minimum height, weight, running, high and long jump have been kept equal to that of female candidates. The aim of this initiative is to ensure equal opportunities and social inclusion in police recruitment.
Third gender also got a chance
Bihar Police has started the process of including third gender candidates in SI recruitment. Out of 35 thousand candidates in the recruitment of 2026, 17 third gender candidates have qualified for the main examination. Now these candidates will have to give a physical test, which will be conducted as per the same criteria as that of female candidates.
According to the order of Bihar Government, the physical standards for third gender candidates have been kept the same as for backward class women candidates. Its objective is to provide equal opportunities in recruitment and to provide equal rights of security and employment to the third gender.
Physical Test Criteria
Third gender candidates should have minimum height of 155 cm and weight of 48 kg. They will have to complete the 1 kilometer race in 6 minutes, and for this each candidate will get three chances.
A minimum distance of 3 feet will have to be covered in high jump and 9 feet in long jump. Similarly, a 12-pound shot must be thrown at least 10 feet. All the criteria have been kept equal for female candidates, so that the physical test is fair and based on equal opportunity.
Exercise continues in other states also
Preparations are also underway to include third gender in recruitment in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh Police. This step is being considered an important step towards equality and social inclusion in police recruitment in the country.
