Ashok Kumar, born Kumudlal Ganguly on October 13, 1911, in Bhagalpur, India, was a pioneering Indian actor whose career spanned over six decades. The actor made his debut in 1936 film Jeevan Naiya and quickly rose to prominence because of his natural acting style. Throughout his illustrious career, Kumar portrayed wide range of characters from romantic leads to complex anti-heroes. Some of his iconic films are Achhut Kanya (1936), Kismet (1943), and Mahul (1949). However, many not be aware that Ashok Kumar’s granddaughter, Anuradha Patelalso ventured into films. She delivered notable performances in several successful films, but soon after, stepped away from the industry.

Anuradha began her film career with the 1983 film Love in Goa. She went on to appear in several notable films, including Utsav (1984), Phir Aayi Barsaat (1985), Dharam Adhikari (1986), Sada Suhagan (1986) Izzat (1987).

For the unversed, Anuradha Patel is the aunt of popular actress Kiara Advani. She is the granddaughter and daughter of famous film personalities. Her husband, Kanwaljit Singh, is a well-known TV actor. At the height of her career, Anuradha’s simplicity and beauty earned her admiration, with many even comparing her charm to that of the iconic Rekha. In fact, she even shared screen space with Rekha in 1984 film Utsav that gained her widespread appreciation. Fan loved her performance, and the song Why am I begging again? Behkafeaturing both Anuradha and Rekha became a superhit.

After delivering several superhits, Anuradha chose to step away from the world of glamour. However, following a hiatus, she returned to big screen with the 2010 film Aisha. She continued to act in films such as Ready (2011), Dus Kahaniyaan (2007), and Satyaprem Ki Katha (2023).
