There are numerous actors who make an immediate effect with their debut film, only to fade from the limelight soon after. Despite the initial success, their careers fail to take off and they eventually bid farewell to acting. Today, we will talk about one such actress who started with a bang but couldn’t recreate the magic of her debut.

The Actor’s Blockbuster Debut With Stellar Cast

The actress we are talking about is Kim Sharma, who made her debut with Mohabbatein (2000), directed by Aditya Chopra. The film featured a massive star cast, including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Aishwarya Rai. Mohabbatein turned out to be a blockbuster hit, and the actor’s performance was well-received by the audience. However, despite the strong start, she was unable to replicate this success with any subsequent films.

Kim Sharma’s Personal Life In The Spotlight

Though the actress couldn’t give another blockbuster, she was often in the headlines due to her personal life. Kim Sharma married businessman Ali Punjani in 2010. The businessman was already married and had three children when they met during a safari trip in Kenya. Kim Sharma converted to Islam and changed her name to Maria Ali during the marriage. The couple’s marriage, however, ended in 2017.

Later, her rumoured relationships kept her in the media’s eye. From 2018 to 2019, she was rumoured to be dating actor Harshvardhan Rane, and the two were frequently spotted at various events together. Later, she was romantically linked to tennis player Leander Paes from 2019 to 2021. The couple was often seen on lunch dates and gym sessions. In September 2021, they made their relationship official, only for it to end shortly after with fresh rumours of a breakup.

Kim Sharma’s Shift To Business

After her last film appearance in 2011’s Loot, Kim Sharma quietly disappeared from the acting scene. It has now been 14 years since she was last seen in films. During this hiatus, she ventured into the business world. She currently serves as the Vice President of DCA Talent Agency. Prior to this, she ran several hotels in East Africa and established a bridal image consultancy in Dubai in 2010.
