This blue drum will become the summer season, Shimla will make a house in just a few rupees, the tension of electricity bill will also end.
News India Live, Digital Desk: The scorching heat has hit the entire country including North India. As the temperature is rising, ACs and coolers have started running day and night in people’s homes. But the huge electricity bill at the end of the month makes the common man loose. In such a situation, a ‘desi jugaad’ is going viral on social media, in which a blue plastic drum has been converted into a luxurious cooler. It is not only economical but also eco-friendly.
Jugaad from junk: blue drum did wonders
Often we leave the blue colored plastic drums lying in homes or factories as useless. But an innovative idea has made it a cooling machine. To make this indigenous cooler, a big hole is made in the middle of the drum and an exhaust fan is installed and space is made for grass or honeycomb pads on the edge. It uses a small water pump motor, which keeps the grass wet and gives you cool air.
There will be huge savings in electricity bill
Running a normal air conditioner (AC) results in an electricity bill of thousands of rupees a month. At the same time, this drum cooler runs on a very low watt motor and fan. Since the material used in it is very cheap and accessible, the cost of making it is also half as compared to the branded coolers available in the market. This is a boon for those who want great cooling in a low budget.
It is also a boon for the environment
This cooler is being called ‘eco-friendly’ because the plastic drum in it is recycled. Also, it does not emit poisonous gases like AC. Its biggest feature is that you can customize it as per your need. By using a bigger drum you can also prepare it for a bigger hall or shop.
How to make this smart cooler at home?
To make this, you will need a 200 liter plastic drum, an exhaust fan, a submersible pump, and some cooling pads. Cut windows on three sides of the drum and place grass there with mesh. Lay a water pipeline on top which will keep the pads wet. This setup not only throws cool air, but also reduces the surrounding temperature rapidly due to evaporation of water.
