Obnews Desk: Another death penalty case has come to light in Iran under strict religious law. According to Iranian media, famous singer Amir Hossein Maghsoodloo, better known as Tataloo, has been convicted of blasphemy. After which the court has sentenced him to death.

According to a local newspaper in Iran, the Supreme Court reconsidered the 5-year sentence given in the blasphemy case. After the objection of the prosecutor the case was reopened and the accused was sentenced to death for insulting the Prophet. However, according to the report, this decision is not yet final and can be appealed against.

The accused in these cases are

37-year-old singer Tatalu was living in Istanbul, Turkey since 2018. Turkish police handed him over to Iran in 2023. After this Tatalu was prosecuted on blasphemy and many other charges. He has been sentenced to 10 years for promoting prostitution. In addition, he is also accused of spreading propaganda against the Islamic Republic and publishing obscene material.

Denial of death penalty news

According to Iran International, the country's judiciary has denied reports that singer Tattalou has been sentenced to death for blasphemy. The media office of the judiciary said that the initial report by Zam Zam newspaper was not accurate. He also said that the final verdict in Tattalu's case has not been issued yet.

Tataloo, who performs a brilliant combination of rap, pop and R&B, is also famous for the unique tattoos he has on his body. Conservative politicians saw Tataloo as a way through which they could reach young and liberal Iranians. In 2017 Tatalou had a televised meeting with Iran's ultra-conservative President Ebrahim Raisi. Apart from this, in 2015 he also launched a song in support of Iran's nuclear program.
