This decision of UP government will give you free ration

A very good news has come out for lakhs of families of Uttar Pradesh. Yogi government is now preparing to expand its free ration scheme in the state. This new decision of the government is going to provide great relief to about 56 lakh new eligible beneficiaries of the state, who were not able to get the benefits of the scheme till now. The government is now going to make the scope of this scheme wider so that no eligible person is deprived of this facility.

Right to ration will reach 56 lakh new people

At present, about 14.64 crore beneficiaries in Uttar Pradesh are getting the facility of free ration under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). However, the central government has set a target of 15.20 crore beneficiaries for UP. To achieve this goal, the government has now decided to run a campaign. The Food and Logistics Minister has given clear instructions to identify all those eligible families whose ration cards have not been made yet. These families will be linked to the scheme by issuing new ration cards on priority basis. Along with this, verification of existing Antyodaya and eligible household cards will also be ensured so that complete transparency is maintained in the system.

‘Annapurna Bhawan’ will now be hi-tech

To make ration distribution more convenient, the government is now laying special emphasis on the construction of ‘Annapurna Bhawans’. These buildings will not just be grain distribution centres, but will also be equipped with modern facilities. Along with safe grain storage, there will also be facilities like CCTV cameras, waiting area, clean toilets and internet. Not only this, the government is also considering developing these centers as mini stores in future, from where people will be able to purchase household items, ‘One District-One Product (ODOP)’ goods and products of self-help groups.

Solution to the problem of e-pos machines and network

It is often seen that due to network problems in many rural and remote areas, ration distribution is delayed for hours, due to which the beneficiaries have to stand in long lines. Taking this problem seriously, the Minister has directed the officials to work with telecom agencies to remove network bottlenecks as soon as possible. Besides, plans are also being made to open new fair price shops where the population is high and the burden on old shops has increased. Cases of pending and canceled ration cards will also be resolved expeditiously so that the general public does not face any problem in getting ration.
