Another significant step towards modernization is about to be added to India’s railway network. The country’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is set to enter service on January 17, 2026. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off this historic initiative. The event will be held at Malda Town Railway Station in West Bengal. This project is considered a major step by Indian Railways towards modernizing the country’s rail system.

After the inauguration, starting January 18, the train will run regularly from Howrah in West Bengal to the Kamakhya region in Assam, further improving connectivity with Northeast India. The Kamakhya region is located near the city of Kamakhya and is considered a vital route for travelers.
