This place in Chile is Mars for scientists, you will be stunned to see the land that has been thirsty for 4 centuries

News India Live, Digital Desk: Whenever we talk about ‘desert’, the thought of scorching sand and little to no rainfall comes to our mind. But can you imagine that there is a place in this world where not even a single drop of rain has fallen for the last 4 centuries (400 years)? It may sound like the story of a fictional movie, but the Atacama Desert located in Chile, South America is one such place. For scientists, Atacama is like a mysterious laboratory. It is considered to be the driest place on Earth. Some parts here are so dry that the soil and atmosphere there resemble Mars to a great extent. This is the reason why even NASA often tests its Mars rovers and instruments in this desert. How does time pass without rain? Now the question that comes to mind is that where there has been no rain for 400 years, how would people live in a place or what would be the view there? The surprising thing is that even without rain, this place remains a center of attraction for tourists from all over the world. The barren hills, frozen salt layers and far-reaching silence give the feeling of a different world. The most interesting thing is that despite the absence of rain, life here has not completely ended. There is a special kind of moisture i.e. fog in the winds here which the local people call ‘Camanchaca’. Some special creatures and plants here are keeping themselves alive with the help of this moisture. This place is also very special from the tourism point of view. The sky here is so clear at night that you can feel the entire galaxy of stars without any telescope. Scientists believe that the reason behind this desert being so dry is the structure of the mountains there, which do not allow clouds to enter this area. Seeing this form of nature, the only thing that comes to mind is that where humans face trouble due to lack of a few drops, this barren land has been standing without water for centuries and has created its own identity.
