IPL 2025 Rishabh Pant: IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) is going to announce the name of its new captain soon. The team will name its captain for this season in a special press conference at the RPSG head quarter in Kolkata on Monday. Wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant, who was the most expensive seller in the mega auction of IPL this year, is certain to get the command of the team. In the auction held in November 2024, LSG included Pant in their team by paying Rs 27 crore.

According to a report in 'ESPN Cricinfo', the franchise may announce the new captain as well as unveil the team's new jersey in Monday's press conference. During this time, some players of the team are also likely to be present in this press conference.

Indian wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul led the LSG team for three years since its entry into the IPL, where in the first two years the franchise managed to make it to the playoffs. However, both times the team was not successful in making it to the finals. Last year was a forgettable one for the team, where the team finished seventh in the points table.

Pant will be seen captaining once again

For Pant, this is the second team, where he will be the captain. Before this he had led Delhi Capitals. However, Pant was not that successful on the captaincy front. Due to not getting much success on the captaincy front, he decided to go to the mega auction. The team management of Delhi wanted to keep him with them, but they were not committed to making him the captain.

Pant will now work closely with head coach Justin Langer in the Lucknow team, with whom he had interacted during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, and will also work with new team mentor Zaheer Khan.
