His bereaved parents were joined by a number of celebrities, including his former bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, who reunited to bid him a final farewell. Since the funeral photos went viral, an old tweet of his from 2010 resurfaced online.

In a tweet written during his early days of fame, young singer Liam Payne asked, “If I die will you come to my funeral?” On November 20, the day of his funeral, fans revisited the tweet, sharing heartfelt comments reflecting their grief and admiration for Liam. The post touched fans deeply, leaving many saddened.

“Yesterday, November 20, many fans came back to this post and left comments for the singer, expressing both sadness and admiration for Liam,” one fan wrote. Another shared, “I love you and miss you, Liam. My favorite member of One Direction.” Another X (formerly Twitter) user expressed, “I'm sorry we let you down, dear. You didn't deserve all this.”
