This Star player misses out as team India announce their squad for the upcoming BGT

The BCCI on Friday night revealed the all-important Indian cricket team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, also known as Aus-India test series from 22nd Nov in Perth. Jasprit Bumrah has been named vice-captain in a team led by Rohit Sharma. Senior fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been injured and hence left out. Instead, young quickies Harshit Rana has received his Test debut call while even fast-bowling all-rounder Nitish Reddy has been included.

Domestic cricketer and experienced player Abhimanyu Easwaran has also been added to the team. Wicket-keepers are Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel. In the top order, there’s Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli. While in the middle order, KL Rahul and Sarfaraz Khan are present. Apart from Bumrah and Rana, other fast bowlers include Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep and Prasidh Krishna.

The squad comprises of three spin-allrounders including Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar.

Axar Patel a left-arm spinner will not be going on the Tour. On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav was not available for the Australia Tour as he had been placed at the BCCI Centre of Excellence after the ongoing Test series with New Zealand for the rehabilitation of his longstanding left groin problem.

Fast bowlers Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini and Khaleel Ahmed are in the reserves.

After the New Zealand 3-match Test series, India will now play a 5-match Test series in Australia, which is part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy commencing 22nd November in Perth.
