This state is called “honey bowl” in India, huge demand in foreign countries
Knews Desk- One state in India has gained special recognition in the field of honey production, which is often called the “Honey Bowl”. This state is Uttar Pradesh, which is considered to be the largest honey producing state in the country. The honey here is exported on a large scale not only in the country but also to foreign countries, which provides good income to the farmers and people involved in beekeeping.
The history of honey in India is very ancient. Since ancient times, it has been used as medicine, worship and food. Even in the Indus Valley Civilization, evidence of beekeeping and honeycombs has been found. Honey has been described as an important medicine in Ayurveda, which has beneficial properties in increasing immunity and curing many diseases.
Honey is also considered very useful from nutritional point of view. Many important elements like carbohydrates, vitamins, calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium, zinc, sodium and antioxidants are found in it, which not only gives energy to the body but also strengthens the health. According to the official organization APEDA, Uttar Pradesh’s share in India’s total honey production is about 17 to 30 percent. This figure makes it the largest honey producing state in the country.

Many districts of Uttar Pradesh are particularly famous for honey production. Among these, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Siddharthnagar and Basti are prominent. Beekeeping is done on a large scale in these areas, which produces high quality honey. Farmers here are adopting beekeeping as a profitable business with the help of modern technologies and government schemes. Honey production is not only strengthening the rural economy but also creating new employment opportunities.
Honey produced from Uttar Pradesh is exported to various countries, which also boosts India’s agricultural export potential. Indian honey is in good demand in the international market due to its natural quality and purity. Thus, Uttar Pradesh is not only the largest honey producing state of India, but it is also playing an important role in the agricultural economy and rural development of the country.
