Those indulging in ‘vote chori’ are gaddars, need to be removed from power: Kharge

New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday took a veiled dig at the BJP, saying those indulging in “vote chori” are “gaddars” (traitors) and need to be removed from power to save the voting right and the Constitution.

Addressing the party’s ‘Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod’ rally at the Ramlila Maidan here, Kharge said it is the duty of all Indians to unitedly strengthen Congress ideology as only this party can save the country.

He alleged that the RSS ideology will “finish the nation”.

“Only the ideology of the Congress Party can save the country. The ideology of the RSS cannot save our country; on the contrary, it will destroy this country. The people of BJP-RSS are engaged in efforts to end the Constitution,” Kharge highlighted.

“The people of BJP-RSS want to enslave the poor again. But we must remember that the Congress Party brought independence to the country, because at that time Modi-Shah had not even been born,” he said.

“The BJP people are ‘ gaddars’ (traitors) and ‘ dramebaaz’ (indulge in theatrics). They need to be removed from power,” Kharge said, hitting out at the BJP.

Kharge, who is also Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha further attacked the BJP and said that “our party has been defeated in elections, but we are still alive’.

“But even if Narendra Modi loses one election, his party (BJP) will be finished,” Kharge claimed, adding that the ideology of the Congress is still alive despite losing elections and thus we have to fight and not get demoralised.

Kharge also said that his son had an eight-hour operation the day before yesterday.

“My family members called me saying that this is a major operation, you should come. But I thought that our soldiers put their lives at stake to protect the country, Indira Gandhi Ji and Rajiv Gandhi Ji made sacrifices, Sonia Gandhi Ji made sacrifices. In such a situation, when Parliament is in session and such a massive fight is going on against ‘vote theft’-how can I go to my son,” he said.

“Just as soldiers fight on the border, in the same way, Sonia Gandhi Ji has fought against injustice, Rahul Gandhi Ji has walked thousands of miles on foot for the country… I too will continue this fight. I cannot leave the 1.4 billion people of the country for one of my sons, that’s why I have come here today,” the Congress leader said

Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kharge said: “When Parliament is in session, Narendra Modi slips out of the country. He doesn’t sit in the House despite coming to Parliament and does not answer our questions. And they question Rahul Gandhi’s trips.

“Rahul Gandhi ji, Priyanka Gandhi ji asked questions, but not a single question received an answer,” he said.
