Virat Kohli’s historic season, record still stands today

New records are made and broken every year in the Indian Premier League (IPL), but there are some records which have become stronger with time. Among these, the name of Virat Kohli comes at the top, who created history by scoring 973 runs in the 2016 season. This was not just a record, but a performance in which he scored 4 centuries and 7 half-centuries. Throughout that season, Kohli’s bat continued to speak and he single-handedly carried his team through many matches. Even today, after so many years, no batsman has been able to come close to this figure, which shows the strength of this record.

Kohli-de Villiers partnership, which broke every standard

The record of the biggest partnership in IPL history was also made in this season, when Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers together added 229 runs. This match was against Gujarat Lions, in which both the batsmen scored centuries and left the bowlers completely helpless. The batting that was seen on the field that day changed the definition of IPL and this partnership remains an example even today.

Chris Gayle’s storm, century in 30 balls is still memorable

When it comes to the most explosive batsmen of IPL, Chris Gayle’s name comes at the top. In 2013, he scored a century in just 30 balls against Pune Warriors, which is still the fastest century in IPL history. Not only this, in the same innings he scored 175 runs and hit 17 sixes, which is the most by any batsman in an innings till date. This innings of Gayle is counted among the most dangerous and memorable innings of IPL.

Feats ranging from fastest fifty to 37 runs in one over

Many more shocking figures are also included in this list of records. Yashasvi Jaiswal made the record of fastest fifty in IPL by scoring a half-century in 13 balls in 2023. The record of scoring the maximum 37 runs in an over is held in the names of Chris Gayle and Ravindra Jadeja. Breaking these records even today remains a very difficult challenge for any batsman.

Whereas Amit Mishra is the bowler who has taken the maximum number of 3 hat-tricks in IPL, which shows his consistency and skill.

Whereas in fielding, AB de Villiers set a new standard by taking 19 catches in 2016, which no one has been able to cross till date.
