New Delhi. In the monsoon session of Parliament starting from July 20, the Central Government is preparing to introduce a new bill to take strict legal action against those who insult the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ or obstruct its singing. According to the official agenda released by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the government is going to introduce the ‘Prevention of Insults to National Honor (Amendment) Bill, 2026’.

Will get status and security like national anthem

Under this law, ‘Vande Mataram’ will be given the same legal protection as the national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’. After its implementation, if a person publicly insults the national anthem, he can be punished with a maximum of 3 years in jail, fine or both. However, the Union Cabinet has already given its approval for this bill.

Other important bills will also be presented in the session

Apart from the bill related to national anthem, the government is also going to present many other important laws in the House in this monsoon session. Which also includes the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill (FCRA Amendment Bill) to further tighten the rules of foreign funding, Judges Amendment Bill to increase the number of judges in the Supreme Court, Birth and Death Registration Bill to streamline the digital records and registration process. Political analysts believe that there may be a heated debate between the ruling party and the opposition in Parliament regarding this new bill. Apart from this law related to the national song, the opposition parties are making a strategy to corner the government on the NEET-UG paper leak issue and other contemporary issues, due to which the monsoon session is likely to be quite turbulent.
